Department of Equality and Women Studies (EWS)
[EMUI_ Priority Lines: Equality_ Human Rights]

The EWS Department, created on October 14, 2010, aims to become an academic and intercultural space that registers, integrates and enhances the corresponding initiatives and programs that are offered from political and cultural institutions, teachers and researchers from the European Union, Maghreb and the Middle East, as well as from civil organizations with interests in the EuroMed area. The creation of the Department implies giving the category of Faculty its educational offer with priority support in the history and praxis of the Policies of Equality and Gender from a Euro-Mediterranean perspective.

The EWS focuses its activity not only on a university curriculum of excellence, with its three cycles (Degree, Master and Doctorate) progressively and integrally programmed. It works in parallel to train professionals and interested citizens, through Cycles of Conferences, Seminars and Congresses on the basis of a Permanent Program of Continuing Education. The resulting Specialization in Equality and Gender guarantees, according to the level acquired, sufficient training for the description, systematization and analysis of the corresponding conflicts, as well as for the design of proposals for prevention and resolution of the same. Such specialization also qualifies to intervene as professionals in the timely mediation.

In order to shore up the programs that the Depatment of EGS designs and respond to its inherent social function, the EMUI Digital Monitoring Observatory  of the
EMUI (Social Technology and Digital Citizenship) will give priority to generating resources and materials on mobility and integration, with specific reference to the Trafficking in women and highlighting the aggravating factors of exploitation and gender violence. These resources and materials will acquire a relevant political, social and media protagonism if on the basis of them the level of compliance with the protocols of violence prevention in the countries that contemplate it is verified and the impunity that the aggressors have in those others is denounced Which have not been regulated or enforced.
